Tongyu Hu

Hi, I'm Tongyu.

I'm studying a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) / Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney, graduated HSC with a 99.60 ATAR, and spent 2023–2024 as a Software Engineering Intern at Atlassian.

Why I started TH Software Tuition

Two years of 1:1 tutoring taught me exactly where students get stuck on this syllabus. It's not because the content is hard, but because most explanations of it are either too abstract (straight from the syllabus wording) or too generic (written by someone with no real academic or industry grounding in it).

I started TH Software Tuition to teach the course the way I'd have wanted it taught: syllabus-accurate, practical, and grounded in real HSC, university and industry experience.

Now that the course is running, the focus is on keeping that standard consistent: small weekend groups, purpose-written weekly booklets, full worked solutions, and direct access to the person who wrote and teaches the material. Students are not locked into long contracts; they can join term by term and still get a coherent path through the Year 12 Software Engineering course.

Teaching Philosophy

How I approach every lesson

Syllabus first, always

Every booklet is built directly from the NESA Software Engineering 11–12 syllabus dot points: nothing taught that isn't examinable, nothing examinable left out.

Grounded in real experience

Concepts like APIs, SDLC and secure architecture are taught with real examples from study and industry, not just textbook definitions.

Small enough to notice when someone's stuck

Small group classes, not sixty-person lectures. If a concept isn't landing, I see it in the same lesson and adjust, not three weeks later in a topic test.

Have a question before enrolling?

Ask me directly. I answer every enquiry myself.
